Job summary

Build Up Justice NYC seeks a Staff Attorney, Compliance to support operations and general practice areas. The role conducts legal research, reviews contracts, and develops policies to improve risk management and governance.

You will oversee audits of case files, monitor court records and NYSCEF, coordinate with CLO/GC, and supervise staff on research, litigation support, and special projects.

Qualifications

• Provide general legal research and policy guidance.
• Develop and implement procedures to manage risk and compliance.
• Advise on governance, litigation, and contractual matters.

Responsibilities

• Oversee organization complaint process with CLO/GC guidance.
• Monitor compliance with legal obligations and internal policies.
• Track case management dashboards and generate reports.
• Identify opportunities for strategic litigation and collaboration.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation and investigations.
• Supervise staff on research, case strategy, and court appearances.
• Prepare compliance reports and ensure proper documentation.
