Job summary

Build Up Justice NYC is seeking a Staff Attorney, Compliance to support its operations and practice areas. Responsibilities include legal research, policy development, risk management, auditing client files in LegalServer, and reviewing contracts to ensure compliance with policies and contractual performance objectives.

The role involves coordinating with CLO/GC, supervising staff, supporting litigation and investigations, and preparing periodic compliance reports and case status updates.

Qualifications

• Experience in legal research and policy development.
• Ability to review contracts and monitor compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manage organization client complaint process and document investigations.
• Monitor compliance with legal obligations and escalate risks.
• Oversee case management dashboard reporting and metrics.
• Coordinate with outside counsel for litigation, investigations, and disputes.
• Provide litigation support and supervision to staff; assist in investigations.
• Prepare compliance and progress reports and action plans for CLO review.
• Lead special projects assigned by the CLO; manage scope and deadlines.
• Review NYSCEF, eCourts to monitor case progression and deadlines.
• Develop standardized auditing procedures and conduct follow-up reviews.
