Job summary

Build Up Justice NYC seeks a Staff Attorney, Pro Bono Coordinator to lead the organization’s pro bono and internship programs and supervise the CLE training function. You will collaborate with all programs to draft, interpret, and provide guidance as needed, supporting mission-driven housing and civil rights work in Brooklyn.

Qualifications

• Must manage pro bono and internship programs and coordinate with HR and program directors.
• Develop and maintain relationships with law firms, schools, and other academic institutions.
• Provide substantive legal support and guidance to pro bono partners and volunteers.
• Coordinate internship recruitment, onboarding, documentation, and reporting.
• Support the CLE program and continued legal education trainings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the organization’s pro bono program including scheduling and case placement.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with law firms and volunteers.
• Supervise pro bono partners and provide case guidance.
• Manage referrals and track progress and outcomes.
• Represent the organization at pro bono events and partnerships.
• Support development team with fundraising materials and donor communications.
• Coordinate internship onboarding, orientation, and monitoring of assignments.
• Assist with meetings, notes, and policy advocacy planning.
• Conduct legal research and update case files.
• Perform other related duties as needed.
