Job summary

Disability Rights California (DRC) seeks a Community Rights Advocate to support clients of regional centers. The CRA provides information, advice, and representation on education, social security, IHSS, healthcare and community living, under supervision of a supervising attorney.

Hybrid work, with travel to Golden Gate Regional Center locations, and potentially remote work up to three days per week. JD required; strong advocacy skills essential for serving diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Two or more years experience in advocacy or related field.
• Ability to conduct research and analyze pertinent legal authority.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate complex legal questions to the public.

Responsibilities

• Advocacy for people with developmental disabilities who receive regional center services (70%).
• Represent clients at administrative proceedings regarding education, public benefits, and regional center eligibility and services.
• Identify and pursue impact advocacy for removing systemic barriers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with public and private partners to ensure integrated services.
• Supervise one advocate and perform outreach, education, and training for clients and families.
