Disability Rights California (DRC) seeks a Community Rights Advocate to support clients of regional centers, offering information, advice, and representation on a broad range of legal topics affecting people with developmental disabilities.

The CRA will work under supervision, with some remote days and in-office presence in Berkeley, traveling to Golden Gate locations monthly and serving in a hybrid capacity. Strong legal, research, and advocacy skills are essential.

Qualifikationen

• Written and verbal communication skills sufficient to convey complex legal questions to the public.
• Ability to conduct legal research and analyze authorities.
• Experience advocating for people with developmental disabilities or related fields.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to people with disabilities and diverse communities.

Aufgaben

• Advocate for people with developmental disabilities and provide information on legal needs.
• Represent clients in administrative proceedings and assist with education, benefits, IHSS, healthcare.
• Develop relationships with community partners to ensure integrated services.
• Supervise staff and conduct outreach to underserved communities.
• Travel to meet with regional centers and attend meetings as needed.
