Job summary

Disability Rights California (DRC) seeks a Client Rights Advocate (CRA) to support people with developmental disabilities. The role is hybrid, with a base in Berkeley and monthly travel to Golden Gate Regional Center locations, plus remote work up to three days per week.

The CRA provides information, advice, and representation on educational, social security, IHSS, healthcare, and housing issues, under attorney supervision. This is a union-exempt, exempt, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide information and advice about diverse legal needs of people with developmental disabilities.
• Strong advocacy and collaboration skills to engage with partners and communities.
• Knowledge of public benefits, education, IHSS, healthcare and disability services.

Responsibilities

• Advocacy – provide information and advice about the diverse legal needs of people with developmental disabilities who receive services from the regional center.
• Represent clients at administrative proceedings regarding education, public benefits, and regional center eligibility and services.
• Identify and employ impact advocacy strategies to remove systematic barriers for people with disabilities.
• Develop and engage in relationships with public and private partners to ensure integrated services.
• Investigate, facilitate, and report findings from complaints of violation, withholding, or denial of rights.
