Job summary

Function Health is seeking a Staff Analytics Engineer to own the semantic layer at the heart of our data platform. You will design and maintain metrics and data models, enabling reliable AI-driven analytics and self-serve dashboards across the business.

You will collaborate with data scientists, product engineers, and leaders to ensure accurate answers from our data, maintain governance, and promote high data quality in a fully remote, US/Canada/Mexico/LatAm distributed team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of analytics engineering or data engineering experience with staff-level impact.
• Strong SQL and Python proficiency.
• Solid data modeling fundamentals with clean, well-documented models; dbt is a plus.
• Experience with modern data stack tools: Databricks, Snowflake/BigQuery, Airflow, Looker/Tableau.
• Track record of building resilient, production-grade data systems.
• Strong communication to explain tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the semantic layer: metrics, dimensions, and data models as the single source of truth.
• Architect for AI-readiness: enable AI-driven analytics with clean schemas and data contracts.
• Drive data quality end-to-end with observability and testing.
• Enable self-serve analytics by delivering dashboards and tooling for cross-functional teams.
• Set standards for data modeling, documentation, and code reviews.
• Collaborate to improve event logging and measurement coverage across products.
