Job summary

Hims is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the AI team to drive the design and implementation of scalable backend systems powering treatment recommendations and personalized care.

You will collaborate with ML engineers to productionize models, build data pipelines, and advance AI-powered healthcare experiences across multiple verticals. This role emphasizes leadership, reliability, and scalable distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong backend, distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native architectures
• Experience leading large technical initiatives and influencing architecture
• Experience with data-intensive apps leveraging ML or recommendations
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience integrating ML models or LLM-powered apps
• Familiarity with ML lifecycle concepts
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Databricks, MLflow, Airflow is a plus
• Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable backend systems, APIs, and platform services
• Architect infrastructure enabling experimentation and recommendation engines
• Partner with ML engineers to productionize models
