Job summary

Cloudera is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Machine Learning Platform team. You will lead design, development, and delivery of an enterprise-grade AI platform enabling agentic applications and multi-agent orchestration with foundation models at scale in a hybrid cloud environment.

You will drive technical architecture, promote engineering best practices, and collaborate with Product, Design, Frontend, and Field Engineering to improve developer velocity and platform agility.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building scalable backend microservices and distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in Python, Go, Java, or C#/C++, with gRPC and SQL.
• Hands-on experience designing microservices on Kubernetes and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with open-source agentic frameworks and evaluation tooling.
• Strong background in AI/ML orchestration, RAG architectures, and vector databases.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable enterprise-grade platform services and SDKs for autonomous agents and multi-agent collaboration.
• Implement agentic evaluation, observability, and guardrail compliance pipelines.
• Design memory management systems for short-term and long-term context retention.
• Enable Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and semantic search on enterprise data.
• Lead by example and promote engineering best practices and high-quality designs.
• Enhance developer velocity and platform agility across the AI platform ecosystem.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UI, data science, QA, product, and field engineering.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of excellence.
