Job summary

Coinbase seeks a Staff Software Engineer for Core AI Infrastructure on the IT Operations team (ESTO). You will own the reliability and automation of critical AI infrastructure, building production-grade distributed systems to power Coinbase's AI products at scale.

We expect 8+ years in cloud infrastructure (AWS), hands-on Docker/Kubernetes, and proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash. You will shape standards, mentor engineers, and collaborate with leadership to deliver secure, observable platforms.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience automating and supporting cloud infrastructure (AWS) with hands-on IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt).
• Proven experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Bash, Ruby, or Go) and Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
• Platform-builder mindset with history designing reusable infrastructure, APIs, and abstractions adopted across teams.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of AI products by building production-grade distributed systems across the full stack during the SDLC.
• Drive platform adoption with clean APIs, abstractions, and developer tooling for product teams to integrate AI capabilities.
• Coordinate with Platform and other groups to align infrastructure requirements and define shared platform contracts.
• Shape engineering standards and culture by establishing patterns, mentoring engineers, and raising observability and operational excellence.
• Build full-stack applications powering internal AI products and infra using Go or Python.
