Job summary

Unity Technologies SF is seeking a Staff Software Engineer who lives and breathes AI-native development. You will own how the team builds software with AI, define how we measure system health, and shape the tooling and patterns that accelerate delivery.

You will also lead the responsible use of automated diagnosis, and scale evaluation infrastructure for rapid feedback. You’ll collaborate with product, design and other engineering teams to craft architectures, set direction, and mentor peers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AI and agent tooling in engineering work
• Track record of setting technical direction followed by others
• Deep experience building and shipping complex, user-facing software at scale
• Strong observability expertise: monitoring, logging, alerting, debugging

Responsibilities

• Own how this team builds software with AI and sets the standard for agentic code review and automated tests
• Define metrics and rebuild observability to be self-explanatory
• Build a fault-tolerant troubleshooting layer that correlates signals and identifies root causes
• Own infrastructure for evaluation and ensure fast, repeatable, cheap evaluation
• Set technical direction for Unity AI's backend platforms and engage with cloud providers
• Mentor and raise the engineering bar through design reviews and standards
