Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, AI Product Engineering, to shape and build AI-powered software for tax and accounting professionals. You will own greenfield AI systems, design scalable APIs, and guide teams from prototype to production in a hybrid setup across multiple hubs.

You will collaborate with Product and Design to translate customer problems into scalable technical solutions, mentor engineers, and influence architectural direction while hands-on coding and reviews

Qualifications

• Extensive backend experience with production-grade systems.
• Hands-on Python development experience.
• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• API design and distributed architectures.
• PostgreSQL and cloud platform (AWS) experience.
• Greenfield or 01 product ownership from architecture to prod.
• Ability to lead across multiple systems and teams.
• Strong design and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Own greenfield and 01 AI systems from discovery to production.
• Design and build production backend services using Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Build AI-native applications with LLMs, agents, orchestration, and real-time AI workflows.
• Integrate models from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic.
• Design scalable APIs, data models, and asynchronous workflows.
• Lead architectural decisions across reliability, scalability, and security.
• Establish reusable engineering patterns and standards for multiple teams.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical trade-offs.
