Job summary

Nextiva is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to accelerate AI initiatives and deliver an integrated, AI-powered customer experience platform. You will own new capabilities end-to-end, from initial discussions to design, development, and production launch, while staying hands-on and collaborative across global teams.

The role emphasizes building scalable AI features with Python, distributed architectures, and strong system design, with remote work flexibility for candidates nationwide and onsite

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of software engineering experience, with strong hands-on production software delivery.
• Very strong hands-on Python engineering skills.
• Strong system design capabilities.
• Experience designing and building distributed systems.
• Demonstrated experience owning and launching software modules end-to-end.
• Ability to remain hands-on with coding at Staff Engineer level.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and launch new AI-focused engineering capabilities and modules.
• Own engineering initiatives end to end from solution design through implementation and launch.
• Remain deeply hands-on with software development and contribute production code.
• Build solutions using Python and distributed systems engineering principles.
• Participate in system design, architecture, and solutioning discussions with engineering teams.
• Collaborate with Google Gemini team to extend NextIQ capabilities into Gemini.
• Partner with external technology partners to extend Nextiva capabilities.
• Work with Nextiva product and engineering teams on new initiatives.
• Navigate ambiguous, early-stage technical problems and translate them into practical solutions.
• Take accountability for designing, building, and launching the capabilities you own.
