Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking an AI Staff Engineer for Global Westlaw Engineering to define and build the AI foundation powering next-gen legal research experiences. You will work on agentic systems, RAG, AI platforms, and large-scale knowledge services across Westlaw teams.

You will mentor engineers, drive MLOps governance, and shape technical roadmaps while delivering secure, scalable AI solutions for legal professionals globally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in senior/lead AI/ML roles.
• Hands-on AI/ML experience with generative AI, RAG, or LLM-based systems.
• Proficiency in Python and backend service/API design.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and production AI systems.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build enterprise-scale AI systems, including RAG and knowledge graphs.
• Lead technical strategy, evaluate new AI techniques, and drive roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers, champion MLOps and governance for AI lifecycles.
• Ensure quality, security, and observability for AI systems at scale.
• Collaborate with researchers, product, and design to deliver customer-facing AI features.
