Job summary

Toast is hiring an AI/Agent Engineer to advance the Care Automation layer. You will design AI-powered automations and agentic workflows, reducing manual workload for Customer Care and enhancing outcomes across the care stack.

Collaborate with software engineers, Salesforce developers, and operations to ship production-grade AI systems integrated with Salesforce Service Cloud and Amazon Connect.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with production AI/ML systems.
• Experience with large language models and agentic frameworks; prompt engineering.
• Backend experience in Python, Java or Go.
• Event-driven architectures and enterprise integrations.
• Evaluate trade-offs between automation accuracy, latency and cost.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate AI-powered automations and agentic workflows for care agents.
• Build and maintain integrations across Salesforce, Amazon Connect, and iPaaS platforms.
• Prototype agentic solutions with human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
• Write automated tests and participate in code reviews for reliability.
• Monitor AI system performance and iterate from data and feedback.
• Collaborate with engineers, Salesforce developers, and operations stakeholders.
• Leverage AI-augmented tools to increase velocity and code quality.
