General Matter is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Los Angeles, CA team. You will operate at the intersection of hands‑on execution and systems design, supporting core accounting processes while helping build infrastructure, controls, and scalable systems for growth.

You will partner closely with leadership, engineering, and operations as we scale from early‑stage operations to a fully integrated industrial enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge in US GAAP; mix of technical and operational accounting.
• CPA, active or inactive.

Responsabilités

• Support core accounting operations, including monthly close, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Design and implement scalable accounting processes, policies, and documentation.
• Build and manage accrual processes for timely expense recognition.
• Review open purchase orders and coordinate with operations and procurement for tracking and closure.
• Prepare internal financial reporting, dashboards, reconciliations, and schedules to inform decision‑making.
• Conduct accounting analyses to ensure transactions align with US GAAP and policy.
• Develop internal controls suitable for a regulated, advanced manufacturing environment.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to improve financial visibility and budgeting inputs.
• Track fixed assets, capitalization, and depreciation; monitor assets placed in service.
• Provide support for audits and special projects as needed.
