Job summary

Installed Building Products (IBP) seeks a Staff Accountant to join our team in Columbus, OH. The role focuses on month-end close, payroll-related accounting, and reporting to support management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 2 to 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in payroll, benefits, or payroll-related accounting.
  • Experience with payroll and/or payroll-related accounting processes required.
  • Ability to interpret payroll and accounting reports generated from computerized systems.
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools preferred, including UKG, Sage, or similar report-writing platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and macros.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Report-writing experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare required journal entries for month-end close processing and analyze monthly general ledger activity related to payroll and benefits.
  • Perform account reconciliations, conduct research, and prepare supporting documentation for review and approval by the Director of Compensation Analysis.
  • Take a leadership role in creating reports and conducting direct labor analyses for management, both in response to requests and proactively to support payroll expenditure analysis.
  • Review union-related reporting and manage year-to-date (YTD) summaries for year-end reporting requirements.
  • Maintain payroll expense recaps and related documentation for reporting and reference purposes.
  • Utilize report-writing software to extract data for analysis, management reporting, compliance, and audit requests.
  • Develop an understanding of mergers and acquisitions activities as they relate to payroll accounting to help ensure accurate financial transitions.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Pay Range:
63k-$70k
Schedule:
M-F onsite 8 am- 5 PM
