Job summary

The Niskanen Center in Washington, DC seeks a Staff Accountant to join our Operations team. The role focuses on accounts payable, accrual-based accounting, and supporting our outside accounting firm and auditors.

You will process supplier payments, employee reimbursements, and reconcile credit card expenses while assisting payroll and benefits operations. Proficiency in Expensify, Intacct, and Bill.com is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree in accounting required or preferred.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit sector.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• High accuracy and ability to meet deadlines in high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Process payments to suppliers and contractors and employee reimbursements.
• Reconcile credit card expenses and assist payroll and benefits operations.
• Manage accounts payable and coordinate with outside accounting firm and auditors.
• Maintain vendor records and support monthly and quarterly closes.
