Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant in Northern Kentucky to join its accounting team. This role will closely support the Assistant Controller with month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and the annual audit.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, strong attention to detail, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
• Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
• Experience supporting month-end and/or year-end close.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working with an accounting or ERP system.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet month-end and year-end deadlines.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with the accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly and year-end financial close processes.
• Prepare and post recurring, accrual, reclassification, and adjusting journal entries.
• Prepare bank, credit card, accrual, and general ledger account reconciliations.
• Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including research and issue resolution.
• Prepare accounting reports and schedules for management.
• Assist with the annual financial statement audit by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and responding to auditor requests.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Help identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase efficiency.
• Support the Assistant Controller with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as needed.
