Job summary

TGW Logistics in Grand Rapids, Michigan is seeking a Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations. You'll work on accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close responsibilities while ensuring compliance with GAAP.

Job description

The Staff Accountant supports the daily accounting operations of the organization through the execution of accounts payable activities, general ledger maintenance, fixed asset accounting, and month‑end close responsibilities. This role ensures the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, maintains compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient financial operations.

What you’ll be handling

• Prepares and posts monthly journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Maintains fixed asset records and depreciation schedules, including coordination of technology asset tracking with IT.
• Processes corporate credit card payments and performs monthly account reconciliations.
• Monitors and manages the accounts payable mailbox and responds to vendor inquiries.
• Verifies invoices, performs three-way matching, processes payments, and communicates with vendors, including freight providers.
• Processes employee expense reports and maintains employee setup within expense reporting system.

What you’ll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting roles.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
• Effective organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills.
