Job summary

Father Joe’s Villages in San Diego is seeking a Staff Accountant II to strengthen financial accuracy and integrity. You’ll manage general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and complete monthly reconciliations to support reporting and audits.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s in accounting or related field and at least three years of accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and Excel proficiency; NetSuite experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
• At least three years accounting experience including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, or month-end close.
• Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit documentation practices.
• Experience using an accounting or ERP system; NetSuite experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and complete monthly reconciliations and close activities.
• Analyze account balances and financial variances, investigate discrepancies, and resolve errors to maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare account schedules, financial analyses, and supporting documentation for internal reporting and year-end audits.
• Reconcile intercompany and cash accounts, research unusual activity, and resolve outstanding items.
• Partner with internal departments to address accounting issues and ensure transactions are properly recorded and supported.
• Apply accounting policies and internal controls while identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen accuracy, and increase efficiency.
• Maintain accounting procedures and provide guidance to teammates on assigned processes and systems.

You’ll take ownership of assigned accounts, manage monthly reconciliations and journal entries, investigate discrepancies, and help ensure financial records are complete, reliable, and ready for reporting and audit review. Working closely with the accounting team and colleagues across departments, you’ll turn financial data into meaningful information, resolve accounting issues, and identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.
