Job summary

Father Joe’s Villages in San Diego is seeking a Staff Accountant II to strengthen financial accuracy and integrity. You’ll manage general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and complete monthly reconciliations to support reporting and audits.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s in accounting or related field and at least three years of accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and Excel proficiency; NetSuite experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
• At least three years accounting experience including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, or month-end close.
• Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit documentation practices.
• Experience using an accounting or ERP system; NetSuite experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and complete monthly reconciliations and close activities.
• Analyze account balances and financial variances, investigate discrepancies, and resolve errors to maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare account schedules, financial analyses, and supporting documentation for internal reporting and year-end audits.
• Reconcile intercompany and cash accounts, research unusual activity, and resolve outstanding items.
• Partner with internal departments to address accounting issues and ensure transactions are properly recorded and supported.
• Apply accounting policies and internal controls while identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen accuracy, and increase efficiency.
• Maintain accounting procedures and provide guidance to teammates on assigned processes and systems.
