Job summary

Opportunity Austin is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries, in a hybrid work arrangement.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience with payroll processing and tax knowledge, plus familiarity with Bill.com, Expensify, and Paylocity. In-office Monday-Thursday, Friday remote in Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience as a bookkeeper/accountant or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of payroll processing and tax laws is a plus.
• Experience with Bill.com, Expensify and Paylocity a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and GL entries.
• Process payroll and ensure accurate deductions, withholdings, and timely payments.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close and prepare journal entries.
• Assist with compliance and other financial reports as needed.
• Payroll processing, EFTPS tax payments and state tax payments.
• Prepare quarterly and annual payroll reports.
• Record keeping and reconciliation of benefits (401k, FSA, PTO).
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely financial reporting.
