Job summary

8am in Austin, TX is hiring a Staff Accountant for an early career role in a hybrid setup. You will maintain accurate financial records, perform month-end close for multiple entities, and prepare journal entries and accruals, while partnering with the GL Accounting team.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 2–4 years of accounting experience, and strong Excel skills; Workday experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance preferred with solid GAAP knowledge.
• 2–4 years accounting experience with ERP systems.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills, with high accuracy and time-management.
• Workday experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Execute month-end close functions for multiple entities.
• Create journal entries and book accruals for pending invoices, open purchases, contracts, and credit card transactions.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and record cash activity with bank reconciliations.
• Analyze cost center income statements for month-over-month and year-over-year variances and actual-to-budget/forecast reviews.
• Assist with audits by preparing PBC schedules and documentation; cross-train on prepaids and fixed assets.
