Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Staff Accountant to oversee full-cycle accounting operations, maintain accrual-based records, and support timely financial reporting. You will handle ledgers, month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and audit support while providing insights to drive business decisions.

Qualifications

• Accrual accounting experience with responsibility for full-cycle accounting operations and general ledger management.
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, large data sets, and detailed analysis and reconciliations.
• Ability to prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
• Accounting degree and 4 years of experience, or 8+ years in accounting.
• Experience generating, verifying, and distributing invoices and resolving client billing discrepancies.
• Hands-on AP management and credit card reconciliation expertise.

Responsibilities

• Generate, verify, and distribute invoices with client discrepancies resolved promptly.
• Manage accounts payable processes including vendor invoices and disbursements.
• Perform monthly reconciliations for bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
• Oversee cash posting to apply customer payments to AR.
• Maintain accrual-based records and support full-cycle accounting operations.
• Provide audit support with schedules, documentation, and reconciliations.
• Analyze financial data and metrics to identify trends and variances, delivering insights to leadership.
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries for timely closings.
• Collaborate with internal teams to clarify data and improve reporting processes.
• Communicate accounting inquiries to internal teams, clients, and vendors.
