Aston Carter is seeking a highly skilled Accountant for a hybrid role based in Vienna, VA. The position focuses on reviewing financial statements, performing month-end close, and ensuring GAAP/ASC compliance across ledgers and accounts.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in public or private accounting with complex accounting treatments.
• Experience researching technical accounting issues and making recommendations.
• Proficiency with data querying, researching, and reporting.
• Experience working on complex projects with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze financial statements, ledgers, reconciliations, and associated accounts.
• Perform monthly close activities, including reviewing and monitoring entries to the Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement accounts, and posting adjustments.
• Conduct account reconciliation, analytics, and variance analysis, providing sufficient supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and ASC in the preparation of financial statements.
• Identify and recommend solutions for incorrect applications of GAAP/ASC.
• Conduct in-depth analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies, contributing to quality control and process improvement.
• Investigate and resolve complex discrepancies, data entry errors, and out-of-balance situations.
• Perform research and respond to inquiries from internal and external auditors.
• Generate variance analysis reports and provide associated justification.
• Apply broad and specialized knowledge of financial accounting and management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
