Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking an Accounting Specialist in Tampa, FL for a hybrid arrangement (in-office 2 days). The Sr. Accounting Specialist will ensure GL integrity, prepare complex journal entries, and support month-end close, revenue recognition, and tax compliance while driving process improvements.

You will interact with billing teams, auditors, and internal stakeholders, maintaining policies and providing guidance on accounting best practices in a growing organization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in accounting with a focus on general ledger.
• Hands-on experience preparing and posting journal entries including accruals/deferrals/reclassifications.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation and variance analysis.
• Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of revenue recognition, deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• Experience processing cash transactions (ACH/wire) in controlled environments.
• Ability to perform bank/merchant/corporate card reconciliations accurately.
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
• Excellent written and verbal communication with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain and follow accounting policies, procedures, documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Support month-end close and coordinate with other departments to meet reporting deadlines.
• Assist with financial reporting and provide supporting documentation and analysis.
• Support annual audits with workpapers and auditor inquiries.
• Manage revenue recognition schedules and deferred revenue entries.
• Oversee prepaid expenses and fixed asset accounting (additions/disposals, depreciation).
• Process cash transactions (ACH and wire) in a dual-approval environment.
• Reconcile bank, merchant, and corporate card transactions and address discrepancies.
• Maintain accounting policies and documentation; support best practices training.
