Job summary

DryWater is seeking a highly organized Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Irvine. You will handle day-to-day accounting operations including journal entries, AP/AR, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance, supporting a fast-growing CPG brand.

This role offers exposure to inventory accounting, EDI transactions, retailer purchase orders, and month-end close, with increasing responsibility as the company scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and pivot tables.
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems preferred.
• Experience with EDI, retail accounting, inventory accounting, CPG, or manufacturing is a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities and responsibilities evolve.
• Strong communicator who can work effectively across departments.

Responsibilities

• Support daily accounting operations, including journal entries, AP/AR, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Manage and monitor EDI transactions, retailer purchase orders, invoices, and related documentation.
• Help reconcile the full retail transaction lifecycle from purchase order → shipment → invoice → payment.
• Review vendor invoices, match purchase orders, verify coding, and assist with weekly payment runs.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, prepaid, fixed asset, and accrual accounts.
• Support inventory accounting, including COGS reporting, inventory reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Research retailer deductions, chargebacks, short payments, and other discrepancies.
• Maintain supporting schedules and prepare financial analysis for management.
• Assist with cash flow reporting and forecasting.
• Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and other teams to ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
• Support audits, tax preparation, and external financial reviews.
• Respond to and follow up on state or tax notices as needed.
• Help improve accounting processes and internal controls as the company scales.
• Support additional finance and accounting projects as needed.
