Job summary

Detroit Defense is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the general ledger, month-end close, and cost compliance within our Deltek Costpoint environment. You will perform journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting across GAAP and government contract costs, collaborating with Accounting, Payroll, Procurement, and Program Finance.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and have hands-on Costpoint experience, strong Excel skills, and a practical understanding of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of one year of general accounting experience; government contracting preferred.
• Hands-on Costpoint experience across GL, AP, and Projects/Time & Expense.
• Solid GAAP knowledge and ledger accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Familiarity with FAR Part 31 and CAS applications to government-cost recording.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to handle large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations in Costpoint per GAAP and policy.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations across multiple accounts.
• Support close activities, schedules, and variance analysis.
• Assist with AP coding, expense reviews, and project/cost objective setup.
• Ensure cost recording compliance with FAR and CAS principles across contracts.
