Detroit Defense Inc. seeks a Staff Accountant to support the general ledger, month-end close, and cost compliance in a Deltek Costpoint environment.

You will manage journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable coding, and expense reviews while applying FAR Part 31, CAS principles, and GAAP across government contracts.

This role collaborates with Accounting, Payroll, Purchasing, and Program Finance and offers growth within a mission-driven defense contractor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1+ year general accounting experience; government contracting experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint (or similar ERP).
• Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries (accruals, prepaids, reclasses, and adjusting entries) in Costpoint per GAAP and policy.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts (bank, AP, AR, payroll clearing, fixed assets).
• Research variances, document root cause and resolutions.
• Support month-end close activities, including checklists and variance analysis.
• Assist with vendor setup, PO matching, and coding to contracts; support A/P functions.
