Job summary

Tempus, a leader in precision medicine, is seeking an accounting associate to support day‑to‑day financial operations in Chicago. You will maintain and reconcile bank statements, perform month‑end close tasks, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, and analyze general ledger activity to ensure data accuracy.

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, solid Excel skills, and GAAP knowledge; public accounting experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of accounting experience or internship in finance, consulting, or technology
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Tax, Audit, or Finance
• Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups) and MS Office proficiency
• Exceptional customer service, teamwork, and attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple work streams
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of GAAP

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day accounting functions
• Maintain and reconcile bank statements
• Perform month-end close tasks and prepare financial statement analysis
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
• Review and analyze general ledger transactions
• Prepare documentation for financial statement audits and tax provisions/returns
• Assist with workpapers for tax filings
• Ensure internal controls are in place and maintained
• Conduct ad-hoc analyses for leadership
• Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes
