The position is non-exempt, full-time (40 hours/week) and eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, and paid time off. The starting wage is $35.00 per hour, with standard safety and compliance expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least two years’ accounting/finance experience, or five+ years in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with module-based accounting software; knowledge of Aptean Traverse highly valued.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for Balance Sheet accounts with supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile Fixed Asset subsidiary reports with GL monthly and review asset lists.
  • Maintain monthly general ledger journals and enter entries into the accounting system.
  • Assist in monthly close and financial statements per close calendar.

Staff Accountant (Full-Time) (Santa Rosa - Yolanda)

POSITION TITLE: Staff Accountant
STATUS: Non-Exempt / Full-Time
DEPARTMENT: Finance/Accounting
REPORTS TO: Accounting Supervisor
SAFETY SENSITIVE: HIGH - This position is subject to pre-employment physical and, drug & alcohol screening
This is a full-time 40 hours per week position and is eligible for company benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and paid time off.
Location - Yolanda Administrative Offices - 651 Yolanda Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.
The starting wage for this position is $35.00 per hour.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB:

Primary responsibilities for basic General Ledger activities, accounts receivable transactions, and sales and deposit recording. Provide support to the entire department utilizing formal education, on-the-job learning and work experience skills to achieve financial recording and reporting goals. All work will be directed by a supervisory role and will include training, as needed, to achieve department standards and goals.

Position will have both assigned routine tasks and revolving project work in a supporting role.

PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO: None
RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Prepare the monthly reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts, to include appropriate supporting documentation, and detailed research of any discrepancies, with recommendations for adjustments to the supervisor for review and approval.
  • Reconcile Fixed Asset subsidiary reports with GL monthly, or as directed. Review current listing of fixed assets quarterly to ensure that only active assets remain on the balance sheet.
  • Maintain and prepare monthly general ledger journals, submitting appropriate supporting documentation to supervisor for review and approval, and subsequent entry into the accounting software system.
  • Support the supervisor in preparation of the monthly financial statements in accordance with the close calendar, as needed.
  • Preparation of the monthly program billings, to ensure accuracy and compliance with the program guidelines. Could include reimbursement grants, fee-for-service agreements, or other. Advise supervisor monthly of AR aging concerns.
  • Monitor daily sales and deposits activity including communication of issues to supervisor and other stakeholders, as directed.
  • Assist supervisor, in the preparation of monthly analytical reports.
  • Assist in the providing budget data, including entry of data to accounting software if needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining organization established for departmental filing (e.g., journal entries, monthly checklists, posting reports).
  • Compile data and prepare the annual 571-L Property Tax returns, Welfare Exemptions, and other Federal, State, Local tax returns, as instructed.
  • Support in the review of annual 1099’s as prepared by Accounts Payable staff prior to submittal to supervisor.
  • Assume leadership position as the department expert for all accounting and financial presentation software to support department reporting demands.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of all financial and accounting information.
  • May perform frequent bank deposits and change runs for administrative office and retail stores, in support of business needs.
  • Responsible for knowing and adhering to all Fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Expected to know Personnel policies, procedures and all work-related Workforce Development procedures to perform successfully and to standard.
  • Compliance of all agency policies.
ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide leave coverage for other department positions, as appropriate and directed.
  • Provide and promote a high level of customer service both internally & externally.
  • Participate in all safety trainings, as required.
  • Engage in positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner such that you establish positive relationships with customers, clients, participants, co-workers, and management.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a least two (2) years’ experience of relevant accounting/finance work experience, or five (5) or more years’ relevant experience in lieu of academic qualifications.
  • Experience in module-based accounting software systems. Knowledge of Aptean Traverse highly valued.
  • Solid basic to intermediate level skills in Microsoft Suite applications particularly in Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Highly organized, self -directed and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid CA Class C Driver’s License and proof of personal auto insurance.
  • Must have access to a reliable passenger vehicle that supports completion of essential and ancillary functions of the position.
  • Able to communicate effectively, in person, by written correspondence and on the telephone.
  • Conduct oneself in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

Continuous sitting. Fine finger movements with continual computer use. Frequent bending, reaching and grasping. Occasional lifting of 25 pounds. Visual skill required.
