The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day fiscal operations of a work unit or a group of accounting functions; supervises and performs the most complex accounting duties, including purchasing, accounts payable, cost accounting, payroll administration, year-end audit, cash management, and accounting that requires knowledge of specialized rules and regulations. Additionally, the Accounting Manager supports the validation of the company’s financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information in order to help achieve fiscal goals.

Directly supervises a work unit or a group of employees in the Fiscal department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Other duties may be assigned
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and two year supervisory or administrative experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
To perform this position successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software (Blackbaud Financials desired); Contact Management systems; Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Inventory software; Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Current valid California Driver’s license required, Certified Public Accountant license highly desirable
Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with all levels within the Agency.
