Staff Accountant

A well-established, family-owned employer in the Richmond area is looking for a curious, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a supportive, collaborative finance team.

What You’ll Do

• Investigate & Problem Solve: Trace transaction flows, look into inventory and balance sheet discrepancies, and identify root causes to help improve internal controls.
• Core Accounting: Assist with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Process Improvement: Partner with cross-functional teams to improve data integrity, ERP workflow efficiency, and reporting accuracy.
• Operational Analysis: Build Excel models and reports to evaluate product movements, cost trends, and operational activity.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
• Experience: 2+years of accounting or audit experience (Public Accounting alumni or corporate Staff Accountants looking for hands-on operational growth are encouraged to apply!).
• Mindset: A forensic, "detective" mindset—someone who naturally asks why, digs into discrepancies, and likes connecting the dots.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, modeling) and comfort learning ERP software.
• Communication: Clear, constructive communication skills and comfort collaborating with team members across different departments.
