Job summary

MPD, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our professional finance team in Owensboro, KY.

You will provide financial accounting support across subsidiaries, including P&L analysis and inventory valuation, and participate in tax functions and general accounting tasks. The ideal candidate has a 4-year degree in accounting or related field, at least 3 years of accounting experience, and strong knowledge of GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting ERP software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional certification (CPA/CMA) preferred.
• Integrity, reliability, and confidentiality with deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements and reports.
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Collaborates closely with other accounting team members to maintain accurate financial records and provide insightful analysis to management.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and reconcile balances.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies and internal control documentation.
• Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Identify process improvements and contribute to efficiency initiatives within the accounting department.
• Maintains company credit card accounts.
• Assist and backup Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable functions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues.
• Assist and backup Treasury Management banking functions.
• Other projects or assignments as requested by management.
