Job summary

FirstCall Mechanical in Tampa, FL is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. The ideal candidate will manage general ledger, month-end close, journal entries, and financial analyses while upholding compliance and accuracy.

This role reports to the Corporate Controller and collaborates with the corporate finance team. Construction industry experience, strong Excel, and ERP familiarity (QuickBooks or Sage Intacct) are valued to support audits and cash flow

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of construction accounting experience
• Strong understanding of the financial close process including journal entries and reconciliations
• Experience with A/R, A/P, AIA billing, job costing, general ledger, treasury, payroll and state/local tax compliance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced Excel and quick to learn new software tools
• Background in construction, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing industries

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger and month-end/year-end close processes
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Produce financial statements and analyses
• Maintain records retention and disposal
• Develop procedures to improve efficiency
• Monitor cash flow for operations
• Assist with audits
• Keep managers informed
