FirstCall Mechanical in Tampa, FL seeks an experienced Staff Accountant to join a growing team. You will handle ledger management, month-end close, and financial analysis while ensuring compliant procedures and efficient processes.

The role reports to the Corporate Controller and collaborates with the finance team in Austin, TX. A background in construction accounting and strong Excel skills are highly valued for reliable financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred, but not required.
• 3-5 years of Construction Accounting Experience.
• Deep understanding of financial close processes including journal entries, reconciliations and financial statement packages.
• Experience with A/R, A/P, AIA Billing, Job Costing, General ledger, treasury, payroll and tax compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to quickly learn and adopt new software tools.
• Experience with QuickBooks, SAGE Intacct or other ERP systems.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our fast-growing team. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills, as well as a high level of customer service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage general ledger and month-end/year-end close processes which includes, but is not limited to, preparing all journal entries, reconciling all balance sheet accounts and financial statement preparation and analysis
• Maintain records retention, protection and disposal of records
• Maintain company accounting procedures and processes and ensure compliance
• Develop procedures to improve efficiency
• Monitor cash flow for operations
• Assist with audits
• Keep managers informed

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Timely financial reporting
• Accuracy in journal entries and reporting

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

This position will report to the Corporate Controller and will work closely with the corporate finance team based in Austin TX.

• Deep understanding of financial close process including the preparation journal entries, reconciliation schedules and financial statement package
• Experience in financial operations including A/R, A/P, AIA Billing, Job Costing, General ledger, treasury, payroll and state and local tax compliance
• Great written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced excel skills and ability to quickly learn and adopt new software tools
• Experience with Quickbooks, SAGE Intacct or other similar ERP system
• Background in a skilled trades environment: construction, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing
