Job summary

SMS Mill Services, LLC is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join a driven accounting team in Portage, Indiana. The role reports to the Controller and focuses on coordinating the financial close, revenue accounting, controls, fixed assets, and inventory to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

The successful candidate should bring 5-7 years of accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
• 5-7 years’ experience in an accounting role.
• Industrial service experience would be a plus.
• Strong Excel skills required.
• Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate timely financial close including areas impacting business units, revenue accounting, controls, fixed assets and inventory.
• Oversee company credit card program and participate in bank reconciliation and treasury tasks.
• Prepare journal entries for month-end/year-end closes and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with statutory filings, property tax, sales/use tax, and annual audit support.
• Support the shared services vision for the accounting function.
