Job summary

Rigel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to support financial operations, including accounts payable processing, operational accounting, and month-end close activities.

The role requires accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and a solid understanding of GAAP. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Excel, able to work in a fast-paced team, and maintain strict confidentiality while ensuring SOX compliance and timely vendor payments.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting/Business with 3 years of related accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Excel and ability to quickly learn accounting software.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and detail & organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and manage accounts payable invoices.
• Manage AP inbox, supplier setup, bank verification, and inquiries.
• Review and process employee travel and expense reimbursements.
• Assist in recording operational accounting entries in the general ledger.
• Participate in month-end close and journal entries for areas of responsibility.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Assist in audit preparation and provide support to auditors.
• Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and maintain records.
• Serve as liaison between vendors and Rigel representatives.
• Support Form 1099 process.
• Support regulatory filings including tax submissions and registrations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting and SOX controls.
• Other ad hoc projects as needed.
