Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant at our corporate office in Raleigh, NC. You will support regional operations, participate in the month-end close, and help ensure accurate accruals across multiple plant operations.

The role requires a GAAP understanding, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Some travel is expected (5%).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant experience; CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant accounting experience.
• Thorough understanding of GAAP.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and in a team with minimal supervision.
• Excel (intermediate-advanced); JD Edwards desirable.
• Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication.
• Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels.
• Strong organizational and time management ability.
• Manufacturing or construction and inventory accounting experience a plus.
• Ability to travel on occasion (5%).

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting support for regional operations.
• Heavily involved in the month-end close process.
• Prepare and maintain monthly accruals across multiple plant operations.
• Work with plant personnel to ensure transactions are properly recorded.
• Assist with timely and accurate management reporting.
• Reconciliation of balance accounts.
• Perform standard and ad-hoc analysis.
• Evaluate and recommend new approaches and procedures for improvements and efficiencies.
• Provide support related to internal and external audit requests.
• Acquire a strong knowledge of the business.
• Monitor compliance with policies and procedures.
