Job summary

Johnson Service Group is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team in Westmont, IL. This role oversees reconciliations, payroll tax reporting, commission and income reporting, and supports the month-end close process.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of accounting experience, is proficient in Excel, and can manage multiple priorities while delivering accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a Staff Accountant role.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist senior accountant with month end closing procedures, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Reconcile and file payroll tax amounts for weekly, monthly and quarterly liabilities.
• Calculate and distribute monthly commission reports for production staff.
• Reconciliation and distribution of weekly income reports to VPs.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
• Assist with other accounting tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Johnson Service Group is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including account reconciliations, payroll tax reporting, commission and income reporting, and supporting the month-end close process.
