Job summary

GrowthWise Search Partners is seeking a Staff Accountant to work directly with the Controller/CFO, taking ownership of month-end accounting for multiple entities. You will enjoy a detailed, hands-on role in a casual, family-owned environment where ownership and accuracy are valued.

You will support the accounting close, post journal entries, reconcile accounts, manage fixed assets, inventory, and prepare documentation for audits and tax prep. This is an in-office role located in Stockton, CA.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Staff Accountant performing general ledger accounting.
• Strong foundational understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
• Strong MS Excel skills, including working with complex spreadsheets and accounting schedules.
• Experience preparing accounting workpapers and supporting schedules with accuracy.
• Desire to work in a family-owned business environment with a close team and a casual, no-ego atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Support Controller/CFO with month-end close and related accounting across multiple entities.
• Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, amortization and reclassifications.
• Reconcile balance sheets, investigate discrepancies and resolve reconciling items.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations across entities and locations.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules, prepaid schedules, and monthly depreciation entries.
• Perform inventory accounting, COGS calculations and reconcile month end inventory balances.
• Prepare year-end schedules, workpapers, and supporting documentation for external audits and tax prep.

As the Staff Accountant, you will work directly with the Controller/CFO, taking ownership of the month end accounting preparation across multiple business entities. Staff Accountant – Your Job Duties

You will support the Controller/CFO with accounting department close and daily accounting including supporting the month end close, maintaining accurate general ledger accounts and completing reconciliations across multiple business entities.

You will:

• Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, amortization and reclassifications
• Assist with the month end close, including recurring journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules for Controller review
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies and resolve outstanding reconciling items
• Prepare bank reconciliations across multiple business entities and locations
• Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances, including ensuring accurate accounting and clean eliminations
• Maintain fixed asset schedules, including tracking additions and disposals, calculating depreciation and posting monthly entries
• Maintain prepaid expense schedules and prepare monthly amortization entries
• Perform inventory accounting, including recording purchases and sales, calculating Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and reconciling month end inventory balances
• Prepare year end accounting schedules, workpapers and supporting documentation for external audits and tax preparation
• Support financial analysis and special accounting projects as needed

Staff Accountant – You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team Fit)

You have:

• Prior experience as a Staff Accountant performing general ledger accounting
• Strong foundational understanding of GAAP accounting principles
• Strong MS Excel skills, including working with complex spreadsheets, formulas and accounting schedules
• Experience preparing accounting workpapers and supporting schedules with accuracy
• Desire to work in a family owned business environment where you enjoy being part of a close team and working in a casual, no ego atmosphere
• Ability to work 100% in office in Stockton

Staff Accountant - You Might Have (Desired, Not Required):

• Prior experience with inventory accounting, inventory valuation and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
• Accounting experience in manufacturing, distribution, recycling, scrap metals or a related industry
• Prior experience using QuickBooks Desktop accounting software

Staff Accountant – Benefits for You

Your compensation will beup to $80,000 base salary.
