Job summary

Creighton University is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Omaha. This on-campus, full-time role focuses on core accounting functions, providing hands-on experience with reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and grants support.

You will contribute to the university's financial integrity, assist with year-end closes and audits, and engage with departments across campus to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong accounting and bookkeeping knowledge.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills.

  • Prepare and submit financial reports and invoices.
  • Research, prepare, and enter journal vouchers and cost transfers in the general ledger.

  • Maintain financial records, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with grants‑related accounting and receivable postings.
  • Interpret contracts and reporting requirements.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from university departments and external agencies.
  • Support year‑end close activities, audit preparation, and special projects.
