Job summary

CFS is seeking a Staff Accountant in Bakersfield, CA to support day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records.

You will prepare journal entries, assist with month-end close, reconcile accounts, and help with budgeting and financial reporting, while upholding GAAP standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years accounting experience; internships considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Review transactions and investigate discrepancies or unusual variances.

What You’ll Do

As a Staff Accountant, you will play an important role in supporting the company's day-to-day accounting operations and maintaining accurate financial records. This position offers exposure to a broad range of accounting functions and is ideal for someone looking to build your career in accounting.

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Review transactions and investigate discrepancies or unusual variances
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed
• Support the preparation of financial statements, schedules, and management reports
• Assist with budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis
• Prepare documentation and provide support during internal and external audits
• Ensure accounting activities are completed in accordance with company policies and GAAP
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting questions and issues
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy

Preferred Qualifications For The Staff Accountant

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 1–3 years of accounting experience; internships and entry-level experience will be considered
