Position Summary:

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing team in the homebuilding and development industry. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and motivated professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a solid foundation in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Staff Accountant will support the Controller with the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, project costing, and intercompany transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• General Accounting & Reporting
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Support monthly close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Project & Construction Accounting
• Track and analyze construction progress, costs, and variances across multiple residential development projects.
• Ensure accuracy of job costing and allocate expenditures to appropriate cost centers.
• Assist in monitoring project budgets and report on budget-to-actual variances.
• Intercompany & Corporate Accounting
• Manage intercompany transactions between entities, ensuring timely reconciliation and elimination entries.
• Maintain and reconcile intercompany loan balances and related-party activity.
• Assist in the preparation of cash flow forecasts, variance analysis, and other financial models as required.
• Work closely with the Controller to provide financial insight for decision-making.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience; construction or project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP software is a plus.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
