Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Staff Accountant in Millersville, MD to join a rapidly growing accounting team. This newly created role offers hands-on exposure to month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements under the Controller's guidance.

The successful candidate will have a foundation in accounting, be comfortable learning new systems, and eager to grow with the organization. Recent graduates or those with 0–3 years of experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Foundational understanding of accounting principles and GAAP.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable learning new accounting systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or other accounting systems is a plus.
• Public accounting, construction, service industry, or percentage-of-completion experience is a plus, but not required.
• Interest in process improvement, automation, or AI technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Prepare bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Support financial reporting and assist with variance analysis.
• Assist with annual audit preparation, including schedules and supporting documentation.
• Gain exposure to percentage-of-completion accounting and project-related financial reporting.
• Work across multiple accounting systems to extract information and prepare reports.
• Collaborate with the Controller and accounting team to improve processes and reporting efficiency.
• Assist with special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as the organization continues to grow.

We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing Accounting and Finance team. This is a newly created position due to continued company growth and an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or someone with a couple of years of experience looking to develop their career.
