Job summary

CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a Staff Accountant to support the month-end close process, maintain the general ledger integrity, and record financial transactions. This role emphasizes journal entries, reconciliations, and accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 1–3 years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, meticulous attention to detail, and solid Excel skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting or closely related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and accrual accounting experience.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite or similar ERP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of GAAP policies and month-end close processes.
• Prepare and record journal entries to support month-end close.
• Perform account reconciliations and provide supporting documentation.
• Support revenue recognition through invoice processing.
• Assist with external audits and provide information as needed.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
• Participate in ad-hoc analyses and special projects.

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the month-end close process and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. This member of the team will focus on recording financial transactions, performing account reconciliations and enabling accurate and timely reporting of financials.

• Maintain an intricate knowledge and understanding of GAAP policies
• Prepare and record journal entries to facilitate the month-end close process
• Perform account reconciliations and create adequate support for the balances
• Support the revenue recognition process through invoice creation
• Assist with the external audit process
• Provide recommendations for process improvements through automation, internal controls and other opportunities for efficiency gains
• Participate in special projects and/or ad-hoc analysis needs that arise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in a general accounting position
• Solid understanding of GAAP and accrual basis accounting
• Attention to detail of the highest degree
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (especially Excel)
• Experience with NetSuite or similar accounting systems, commercial banking platforms AP/Expense systems and payroll systems
• This role will require limited travel to corporate events that help promote engagement and learning for our corporate team members.
