Job summary

Jobot Consulting in Fresno is seeking a dynamic Staff Accountant to join our tenured accounting team. The role demands a detail-oriented, analytical team player with strong accounting background, who can handle journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closings.

The successful candidate will contribute to audit readiness, prepare sales tax reports, and support payroll and accounts receivable activities.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Payroll processes and accounts receivable experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Discretion with confidential information and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries for timely and accurate recording.
  • Perform account and bank reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes and financial statements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Prepare and file sales tax reports monthly, quarterly, and annually as required.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Gain exposure to payroll processes as a backup for payroll duties.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable tasks, including collections and payment applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-department teams to ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Performs other tasks as needed and demonstrates flexibility.

Job Details

We are searching for a dynamic and detail-oriented Consulting Staff Accountant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a strong accounting background, looking to take on a challenging role within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, account and bank reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes. This role is integral to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and plays a key role in our audit preparation and compliance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all business transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform account and bank reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial information.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of financial statements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation, ensuring all financial data is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Provide support during audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Prepare and file sales tax reports monthly, quarterly, and annually as required.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies, keeping abreast of any changes in standards and regulations.
  • Gain experience in payroll processes to serve as a backup for payroll duties.
  • Learn and assist with Accounts Receivable tasks, including collections, payment application, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
  • Experience with payroll processes and accounts receivable tasks is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adept at working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with accounting software is required.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new tasks and responsibilities.
