Job summary

Ascendo Resources is seeking a Staff Accountant/Accounting Associate in Chicago, IL. The role provides responsibility for the full spectrum of accounting duties to ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance, with hands-on involvement and process improvement opportunities.

The position is hybrid (2 days in the office), offering a salary of $65k–$70k plus bonus, and a Monday–Friday schedule from 9am to 5pm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance with 3+ years of related experience.
• Experience with ERP and QuickBooks preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with inventories and cycle counts.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office, ERP, and analytics tools.
• Ability to prioritize, with attention to detail and multi-tasking.
• Self-starter and able to work with others, with or without supervision.
• Requires mostly sitting, bending, standing and walking.
• Must be a US Person.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Prepare, post and scan general ledger journal entries.
• Assist in month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing and reporting processes.
• Conduct cash flow analysis and monitor cash balances.
• Support vendor payments, setup and record retention.
• Assist with annual planning, budgeting and forecasting.
• Manage the cycle count process.
• Prepare bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile G/L accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
• Communicate tactfully and effectively in both oral and written form.
• Prepare and audit capital expenditures.
• Assist with month-end financial analysis and review.
• Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support audits.
• Support and promote our company values & principles in everyday work activities.
• Other duties as required.

The role involves working closely with the leadership team, assisting with day-to-day accounting operations and helping to implement process improvements.

Location - Chicago, IL (Hybrid - 2 days in office)

Salary- $65k - $70k + Bonus
