The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 3–5+ years of experience, including payroll processing and multi-entity accounting.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Knowledge of stock administration and equity compensation programs.
  • CPA certification or active pursuit is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the payroll function end-to-end and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Administer stock option grants, RSUs, and equity-based awards.
  • Maintain general ledger for corporate operations and perform month-end close.
  • Support audits, internal controls, and financial reporting disclosures.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and intercompany transactions.

TAT Technologies' Charlotte Group Office serves as the company's corporate leadership and shared services center, supporting its global network of operations. Home to executive leadership, finance, marketing, sales, human resources, and other corporate functions, the office provides strategic direction, enterprise support, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the continued success of the organization's worldwide operations.

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to oversee and administer the Company's payroll function, corporate stock administration activities, and support the accounting and financial reporting of corporate operations. This position serves as a key member of the accounting team, ensuring accurate payroll processing, compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, proper administration of equity-based compensation programs, and timely, accurate financial reporting for the corporate entity.

The ideal candidate combines strong payroll expertise with accounting knowledge and a detail-oriented approach to stock administration, internal controls, and financial compliance.

Main Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
  • Manage and oversee the end-to-end payroll process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll for hourly, salaried, exempt, and non-exempt employees.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings, year-end reporting, W-2 preparation, and payroll audits.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and support monthly close activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related employee inquiries.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure accurate processing of compensation changes, bonuses, commissions, benefits deductions, and terminations.
  • Develop and maintain payroll procedures, controls, and documentation.
Stock Administration
  • Administer the Company's equity compensation programs, including stock options, restricted stock units (RSUs), and other equity-based awards.
  • Maintain equity records and capitalization tables in coordination with executive leadership, legal counsel, and external administrators.
  • Process grants, vesting events, exercises, and distributions in accordance with plan documents.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC, tax, accounting, and reporting requirements related to equity compensation.
  • Support preparation of stock-based compensation calculations and disclosures for financial reporting purposes.
  • Coordinate communication with employees regarding equity awards and related transactions.
  • Assist with corporate governance activities related to equity plans and shareholder records.
Corporate Accounting
  • Maintain the general ledger and accounting records for corporate operations.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and allocations between corporate and operating entities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
  • Assist with external audits and provide supporting documentation as required.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
  • Monitor and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Maintain strong internal controls over payroll, equity administration, and corporate accounting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable payroll, tax, accounting, and reporting requirements.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support special projects, system implementations, and reporting initiatives as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate, manufacturing, or public accounting environment.
  • 3+ years of Payroll Processing experience.
  • Knowledge of stock administration, equity compensation plans, or employee stock.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience preparing and posting journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits and preparing account analyses and supporting schedules.
  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA designation is a plus.
  • Experience with Business Central highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP or accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or multi-location organization.
